Chinese Officials Among Speakers at ABACE2018 Opening

Several industry and government leaders are slated to share their perspectives on aviation, economics, investment and overall transportation trends in Asia as keynote speakers at the Opening General Session of the 2018 Asian Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition (ABACE2018).

“We are pleased to host these renowned leaders at ABACE2018 as they share their wide range of expertise in aviation and business throughout Asia,” said NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen.

Speakers include:

Capt. Jiang Huaiyu will present the latest developments of the Chinese government’s policies for business aviation and discuss investment opportunities. Huaiyu is the director general and deputy secretary of the Party Committee, Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) East China Regional Administration, having previously held this position for the Southern China Regional Administration. He was a chief flight officer of Northern Airlines, deputy general manager and chief flight engineer of China Southern Airlines North Corporation, and became director of flight standards division for the CAAC.

Jianrong Wu, chairman of the Shanghai Airport Authority (SAA), also serves as commander-in-chief of headquarter of phase II construction of Pudong International Airport, as well as the director general of the Office of Shanghai Airports Administration Committee. He came to the SAA in March 2003 as board chairman. From 1998 to 2003, he worked in the Shanghai municipal government as the deputy secretary general and the director general of the Office of Shanghai Municipal Construction Committee.

Wang Jijie, vice president of the SAA, will serve as a host of the Opening General Session.

Cai Jun will provide attendees with insight into airport and transportation trends in China. Jun is the deputy director general of the Shanghai Municipal Transportation Commission. He holds a master’s degree in aeronautical engineering and is a senior economist and senior political engineer. He has served as the deputy secretary of the Party Committee, secretary of the Disciplinary Committee, Labor Union chairman and director of the Shanghai Airport Authority, in addition to other posts.

Opening General Session Crowd

Also speaking at the session, in addition to Bolen, will be:

Axel Cruau, the consul general of France in Shanghai, will highlight partnerships between France and China to promote development of business and general aviation, as well as movement of products between the countries. From 2004-2009, he was the first secretary at the French Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York. He served as UN councilor and international organizations in the minister’s office from 2010-2012, prior to being named consul general in Los Angeles, CA.

Sean Stein, the consul general at the U.S. Consulate General in Shanghai, will share his perspective on economics and investments in Asia. He previously served as consul general in Shenyang, China, where he helped foster over $1 billion in Chinese investment in the U.S. – a record at that time. He has also introduced dozens of U.S. firms to the Chinese market. Prior to his posts in China, Stein served as the principal officer in Medan, Indonesia, and the first deputy chief of mission in Dili, East Timor.
