Press Registration – Draft

NEW FOR 2018: For members of the press to attend and cover ABACE, Chinese authorities are now enforcing long-standing requirements for all journalists in China. Press registration requests will be coordinated by FleishmanHillard Shanghai and will be reviewed the by Shanghai police.

Foreign Media – Without a J2 Visa

Deadline: Friday, March 16, 2018

Foreign journalists who intend to go to China for short-term news coverage of ABACE, with a duration of stay in China of no more than 180 days, must apply for a J2 visa from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China.

Foreign journalists who do not secure a J2 visa by the March 16 deadline will be prevented from covering ABACE by the local police.

Foreign Media – With a J2 Visa

Deadline: Sunday, April 8, 2018

Foreign journalists who have obtained a J2 visa from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China must submit detailed information to FleishmanHillard Shanghai to request press registration. This information will be provided to the Shanghai police for review and approval.

Foreign journalists who do not submit complete information by the April 8 deadline will be prevented from covering ABACE by the local police.

Media Based in China

Deadline: Sunday, April 8, 2018

All Chinese journalists and foreign journalists based in China for a period of six months or more must have a valid press card issued by the China Government. Journalists with a valid press card must submit detailed information to FleishmanHillard Shanghai to request press registration. This information will be provided to the Shanghai police for review and approval.

Journalists who do not submit complete information by the April 8 deadline will be prevented from covering ABACE by the local police.
