Press Registration

For members of the press to attend and cover ABACE, Chinese authorities are now enforcing long-standing requirements for all journalists in China. Press registration requests will be coordinated by FleishmanHillard Shanghai and will be reviewed by the appropriate authorities. Journalists who do not submit complete information by the April 10, 2020, deadline will be prevented from covering ABACE by the local authorities.

Local Media in China (Excluding Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan)

Deadline: Friday, April 10, 2020

All Chinese journalists (excluding Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan) must have a valid press card issued by the People’s Republic of China. Journalists with a valid press card must submit detailed information to FleishmanHillard Shanghai to request press registration. This information will be provided to the appropriate authorities for review and approval.

Journalists who do not submit complete information by the April 10 deadline will be prevented from covering ABACE by the local authorities.


Media from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan

Deadline: Friday, April 10, 2020

All journalists from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan must have a valid press card or press pass issued by the People’s Republic of China representing offices. Journalists with a valid press card or press pass must submit detailed information to FleishmanHillard Shanghai to request press registration. This information will be provided to the appropriate authorities for review and approval.

Journalists who do not submit complete information by the April 10 deadline will be prevented from covering ABACE by the local authorities.

Foreign Media – Based in China

Deadline: Friday, April 10, 2020

All foreign journalists must have a valid press card issued by the People’s Republic of China. Foreign Media – With a J2 Visa

Deadline: Friday, April 10, 2020

Foreign journalists who have obtained a J2 visa from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China must submit detailed information to FleishmanHillard Shanghai to request press registration. This information will be provided to the appropriate authorities for review and approval.

Foreign journalists who do not submit complete information by the April 10 deadline will be prevented from covering ABACE by the local authorities.


Foreign Media – Without a J2 Visa

Foreign journalists who intend to go to China for short-term news coverage of ABACE, with a duration of stay in China of no more than 180 days, must obtain a J2 visa.

If you do not have a J2 visa, you must follow these steps to obtain a press badge for ABACE2019.

Step 1: Obtain a Visa Invitation and Consent Letter.
This process may take four weeks.

Step 2: Obtain a J2 visa through your Chinese Embassy/Consulate General.
This process may take up to 30 days and varies by location.

Step 3: Submit your press registration request to FleishmanHillard Shanghai by April 10, 2020.
